tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-370513942023-11-15T10:00:14.970-08:00I got conned on eBayIn September 2006 I purchased a vintage Omega Speedmaster on eBay for US$1600. The seller turned out to be a crook, and needless to say, the watch never arrived. Ebay's response? "Tough titty."They wanted to have nothing to do with the transaction after it went bad. Interestingly, neither did the banks involved.stuarthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11122330128924243667noreply@blogger.comBlogger3125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37051394.post-23829370732017730272006-12-30T21:07:00.000-08:002006-12-30T21:48:33.937-08:00The listing in questionAlthough the picture of the exact item has now been removed by the syshttp://www2.blogger.com/img/gl.link.giftem, I have managed to grab the description thereof as a matter of record.

The image is 300 or so kbytes. If you've got a problem with a transaction the Item Not Received or Significantly Not as Described Process can help you resolve it."

Ha! Harumph! To this I say bollocks. I did a quick survey to ascertain who else in my near vicinity had experienced dodgy dealing, and discovered thats out of 69 transactions on ebay, 6 had gone south. That number again: 6 out of 69.

The words "piss poor" spring to mind.stuarthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11122330128924243667noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37051394.post-1162540396023679972006-11-02T22:22:00.001-08:002007-12-19T17:53:30.600-08:00caveat emptoreBay is not the friendly marketplace I believed it to be. Perhaps they have grown too big. Perhaps they never gave a shit to begin with. Whatever the case, one thing is sure; when (note, I say "when" and not "if") anything goes bad, you're on your own.

stuarthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11122330128924243667noreply@blogger.com0
